crassula-prince-albert
Crassula "Prince Albert"

This unnamed Crassula is a recently discovered sp. nova collected near Prince Albert, South Africa, by prolific British botanist Chris Rogerson, whose “CR” collection numbers accompany many mesembs now in cultivation. We originally received it from our equally well-regarded friend Steven Hammer, who remarked that the species is too distinct to suggest an obvious relative anywhere within this sprawling genus. Prince Albert lies in a rural inland region within the summer-rainfall portion of the Succulent Karoo. To our eyes, the plant somewhat resembles a smaller, bright-green Crassula clavata, but with upright leaves shaped like stubby fingers. It requires very little water and can rot easily when kept perpetually damp, although we have found it easy to propagate from individual leaves.
