If it weren’t a goal of ours to offer pure examples of each species, we would probably keep this good-looking example that has a nice balance of traits from both. Dorstenia gypsophila is a local endemic from one population, where the naturally compact succulent stems match the melted-looking gypsum hills from which they emerge. The wide, lobed leaves are small and resemble deep green miniature ivy leaves that stress purple before becoming bright orange in the fall before dormancy. D. lavranii is unique in being the only dioecious Dorstenia, having male and female organs on different plants. We suspect a male found its way into our flowering gypsophila because it was the only nearby species flowering at the time, and the sale plant is certainly not a pure gypsophila. Regardless, it’s a fine specimen for the nonpurist Dorstenia enthusiast.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Rare Plant Catalog","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52136551022872,"sku":null,"price":26.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0912\/1175\/9896\/files\/dorstenialavraniihybrid.png?v=1780531352","url":"https:\/\/rareplantcatalog.com\/products\/dorstenia-gypsophila-x-lavranii-hybrid","provider":"Rare Plant Catalog","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
