Like relative Darlingtonia, this species has transparent windows on the back of the hooded trap. The light shining through these spots tricks unwitting insects into thinking there is a way out. This deceitful adaptation also makes for a beautiful presentation, especially when backlit, as the spots glow to reveal their intricate constellations. This variety of Sarracenia minor is from the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia and is known for its exceptionally tall pitchers that can reach three feet in height. In the wild, this enigmatic species can be found growing on large floating mats of sphagnum moss. This clone captures a nice combination of traits characteristic of this variety, producing tall pitchers with vibrant colors and exceptional pitcher windows.
